MacGyver MP3 Watch

Remember the MacGyver TV show where the character got himself out of harrowing situations with a piece ot dental floss and a paper-clip? This is his watch.
The MacGyver watch sports a 5-mode audio equalizer, 3-D stereo sound, built-in voice recorder, integrated USB cable, and thumb drive to store and transfer data, and . . . it transforms to a getaway vehicle (okay, just kidding about the last one).
Made by Skullcandy, a company known for their audio-integrated lifestyle products, such as backpacks with built-in speakers and snow helmets with iPod controls, this watch continues the tradition of music on the go.
It plays both MP3 and WAV files, comes with USB 1.1 flash storage, is equipped with an automatic power-off battery (handy if you're tied up?), is shock proof/static proof (shark tank?), and sports a built-in microphone/voice recorder (for taping the bad guys' confessions?).
At $199, it's perfect for the MacGyver in your life. The TV character could save the world with this thing.

Gimmicky backup: memory + free subscription

I back my data up as though it were a religion and I a zealot. Yet, I still haven’t learned how to keep myself from making really really dumb mistakes (e.g. washing my laptop bag with my memory stick inside of it – twice).
SanDisk’s new Cruzer Titanium Plus boasts 4GB of storage and a free 6-month subscription to BelnSync, an online backup service to protect Windows users with an uplink that saves your data outside of the flash drive itself. (The service is $29.99 per year afterwards.)
If you’re a savvy tech kid you probably won’t need this, but if you’re not or your significant other, parent, grandparent, or forgetful friend is not, then this might be a smart gift with a knack for remembering.
Prices:
$35.99 at Amazon.
$64.99 (w/free subscription) at Bestbuy.

Yes, you can take it with you - Digital Pocket Album

The modern day equivalent of the baby "brag book," the pint-sized digital photo viewers that can be worn on a keychain, have come a long way since their introduction. The new Digital Foci Pocket Album holds upto 74 digital photos, with 8 MB internal flash memory; has up to 9 hours of battery life; can run automatic slideshows or scoll photos manually, has an LCD contrast adjustable for choosing the best viewing angle; and includes sofware to convert JPG and BMG images from your computer to the Pocket Album. (That means you'll still need to help Grandma set it up.)
Still, it is one of the easier digital photo albums I've tired -- the software automatically resizes for optimal storage and display on the digital keychain. At $29.99, it makes a perfect Mother's Day gift, but I'd still preload it for her with family photos; conveniently, those naked baby butt photos of you will never see the light of day.

Nexcopy lets you copy to 20 USB drives at once

What would you do if you had to copy a couple of hundred megs of data to 20 USB drives in under 5 minutes? That’s easy, right? But look at the constraint – you have only one PC. Now, that’s a toughie.
The Nexcopy USB duplicator allows you to copy as much as 250MB of data to 20 USB drives in one shot. In under 4 minutes. Now, who can beat that? For companies, this device can save much time and effort, for example, when duplicating official data on USB drives for distribution among employees. Or for a company marketing a new product during a promotional campaign.
This giant USB duplicator with equally giant possibilities sells at a pricey $1299.

Design your own USB flash drive with Pexagon

If you're a geek, then you know there's nothing better than being able to customize your gadgets to suit your own personality. There isn’t much you can really customize when it comes to USB drives, but you can make make it easier to identify yours easily if it ever gets lost (and found). A customized flash drive could make a good gifting idea too.
Pexagon allows you to customize your USB key online in 4 easy steps. And you can choose from capacities between 512MB (who wants that these days?) to 8GB. Looks cool and will cost you no more than $52 for the largest capacity.

USB drives from LG to drive away security woes

With the idea of breaking new ground in the already crowded market of USB drives, LG has introduced the concept of security in their latest line of flash drives. The company has recently annouced two new flash drives in the UK – the biometric fingerprint scanning drive and the real-time virus monitoring drive.
The drive with biometric fingerprint scanning technology has the ability to store the fingerprint identities of 10 different users. Meaning, once the drive has been loaded with the fingerprints of authorised users, you don’t have to bother about data getting into the wrong (fingers) hands. Plus, there is also the added safety of setting a password over-and-above the fingerprint scanning. And then there is the Vaccine USB drive, which boasts very cool real-time system monitoring. Just plug in the drive to your PC/laptop and the drive automatically monitors incoming traffic for viruses and malware. The license for the virus monitoring software is valid for a limited 2-year period after which it will have to be renewed at an additional cost.
The sleek black drives are to be available in standard capacities – the biometric ranging between 512MB and 4GB, and the Vaccine ranging between 512MB and 8GB. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing just yet.
