Bubble Chair by Plushpod

bubble chair.jpg

Anyone who grew up with Dr. Seuss and the Jetsons has to love this Bubble Chair from Plushpod. A chair like this has to lighten your mental load; how can you take yourself seriously while swinging in the air in a bubble? I'd like to put myself in one and my dog in the other and just zone out after lunch for a couple of hours every day.

Imported from Finland, the whimsical bubble chair was designed in 1968 by Eero Aarnio. Made of clear acrylic and chromed steel, the sphere "swallows sound" to provide a sense of isolation from the world. Sounds lovely to me, but at a price of $2,869 each, I'll have to wait until my ship comes in to acquire this piece of retro-modern luxury, or at least until Ikea comes up with something similar.

Thanks for linking this. I'd love to take a chair like this for a test drive. Just wish that it were more affordable.

These chairs rock! I will have to wait until I win the NC lotto, or get famous with my to-be published work, but like a jukebox I want one of these chairs too! They would look so fun in a home...any chance the price could go down? :o)

Nice chair. Much, much less expensive to have one fabricated or if one has access to right shop and right materials - fabricate onself.
