Toothbrush and toothpaste holder

hole-toothbrush.png

This clever little toothbrush is so simple, but presents a really effective way of storing your toothbrush and making sure every last bit of toothpaste has been used up at the same time.

Contact Catherine Werdel, the designer of the toothbrush, for more information about the product.

Tea steeper and timer

tea-steeper1.jpeg

This unusual tea steeper has been made to work in the same way as a standard egg timer, leaves and water are added into one section then flipped to start the tea making process and the spring loaded timer. The tea then slowly trickles through into the bottom compartment.

The design seems rather intuitive, simple and much more effective than simply leaving the tea to steep in a tea cup.

Revolights add a glow to your wheels

When cyclists want to be safer and more visible on the roads, they often opt for a luminous yellow jacket designed to reflect the light of oncoming vehicles no matter what time of day they happen to be out and about.

Now the new Revolights concept or "revolution" as its called on Vimeo aims to make cycling at night even safer and there isn't an unflattering high visibility jacket in sight!

Philips launches the USB toothbrush

phillips-toothbrush.jpg

Home electrical manufacturer Philips has launched a new toothbrush device dubbed "the iPod of toothbrushes" which charges via a USB port. The toothbrush comes in a robust, pod-like travel case and can be plugged directly into a computer or into another adaptor, which means it can charge at the mains if another device isn't around in the same way as Apple chargers work.

The new toothbrush is set to retail at around 250 GBP ($400 USD) and would be ideal for those that need to travel for business and have their laptops with them 24/7. More and more technology companies are realizing just how useful it is to be able to charge practically any device via USB rather than having to depend on a mains socket.

The Steam Mug humidifies your room

steam-mug.jpg

The Steam Mug from designer Young-Suk Kim is not only a mug, but it uses your left over water to humidify your surroundings. Once you've finished with it, simply put it back on its saucer and plug it into your computer via a USB port to give it the energy to start heating, steaming and humidifying.

Salve Bagel Toaster is Electrolux finalist

electrolux-bagel.jpg

This cute and compact Salve Bagel Toaster designed by Kent Madden is one of just eight top designs to have made it into the 2011 Electrolux Design Lab, an annual competition open to industrial design students who present ideas about innovative home designs for the future. This handy bagel toaster is one of our favourites and we're sure it could become a staple for any household or even office as a way of tempting workers away from vending machines and towards bagels crammed with healthy fillings.

The judging takes place on September 7th, 2011 and the winner will win 5000 Euros and an internship with the Electrolux design team. Yanko Design details some of the other finalists and will be covering the event live on its blog in September.

Easier tea on-the-go

t-easy.jpg

The T-EASY concept from designer Dr. Hakan Gursu for Designnobis was created to make tea on-the-go using proper tea leaves or flowers a much easier process.

The tiny little contraption can make up to eight cups worth of tea, simply empty the ingredients out of the plastic container into the part made of chrome metal and wait for it to steep. Not only is the T-EASY practical and compact, it'll also make you feel like you're having much more of a treat than if you were to use a regular tea-bag, this is another great concept we hope will become available pretty soon.
