Popgadget Gift Guide 2005: Pets!
This is the last installment of the Popgadget 2005 holiday gift guide. The guide has been a blast to put together and we hope it's helped you find some things for people on your list, or to pop on your own wishlist. The guide, featuring 88 products this year, will be available on the Gift Guide page until after the New Year. Happy happy holidays to you and yours!

I am sure that somewhere, someone will give their dog the luxury Christmas gift this year. This Dog bed designed by Philipp Plein is yours (or better “its”) for $1,450 (in small) or $1,650.00 (in large). Available from Postmodern Pets. (Camilla)

This simple device, which looks like a big spill-proof coffee travel mug, cleans your dog’s muddy paws with water and cleaning bristles before he walks all over your carpet. It's 29.99 from Paw Plunger. (Hoyun)

If your scaredy-cat dog is afraid of thunder or doorbells or shadows in the night, swaddle him in this soft anxiety wrap (wish they made a size for me – I’m afraid of the phone ringing every 3 minutes). From $65 to $75 from Anxiety Wrap. (Hoyun)

Soniks squeak toys squeak at a frequency that only dogs can hear. $3.79 from Amazon. (Mia)

Popgadget Gift Guide 2005: Luxury ($1000 and up and up)

I think it would be pretty cool to own the world's first fuel cell motorcycle. It doesn't drive very fast and it's slightly homely but it emits water only and runs very quietly for $6,000. Still waiting for Vespa to get it together... (Sheigh)

It's true that the kitchen is most often the room where everybody ends up hanging out. It's usually homey and warm and more importantly, is an easy access to food. The Icebox Flipscreen is a complete entertainment system that mounts neatly under a cabinet to save precious counter space. Watch TV or a DVD, listen to music, surf the web or even monitor your sleeping tot in the other room. No need for a mouse - the flat LCD screen is a touch screen. The remote control and the keyboard are even fully washable. And when you're ready to start kneading that dough, flip the screen up to get it out of your way. $1895.95, with free ground shipping from Shop.com. (Jenna)

The Jacuzzi Morphosis Alpha is no normal whirlpool. This stunning tub, designed by Pininfarina (they also design Ferraris) for the "discerning homeowner", is built for two, with eight water jets and chromatherapeutic multi-colored LEDs. Just $22,000 from Jacuzzi. (Mia)

The Tag Heuer Formula 1 diamond, (aka the Maria Sharapova watch) features 120 diamonds. Practically a bargain at $1325. (Brian)

Popgadget Gift Guide 2005: Kids - Toddlers to Tweens

There's a big debate on whether or not TV for kids under 2 causes ADD and other "disadvantages", but if you do allow your kids to watch TV, these are too adorable to resist. I especially love the plush crab shaped TV. Just the thing your kids need - a TV they can hug. See the whole collection at Hannspree (Jenna)

I've encountered a few kids in the 10-year-old range who tell me they want to be crime scene investigators. They mustn't realize that murder is nasty business and all those flash historical re-enactments are digital effects. But I aim to please other people's children and this Forensic Kit for $79.95 promises to make some short nerd happy. From the Discovery Channel Store (Sheigh)

This fully functional pin-hole camera is made entirely out of paper. Super cute and fun, this makes a great learning project and introduction to photography. From the MoMA store, $20. (Katherine)

The Pixter Multi-Media System is a handheld system for 4 – 8 year olds. It will keep them busy with the usual games, but the device also has streaming video capabilities and makes it possible to create your own shows with cartoon creator, video creator and scene creator software. Get it at Amazon (now $69.96). (Camilla)

This Mini Tamagotchi is a fully functional virtual pet, only less than one third the size of the original. $9.99 at Amazon (Mia)

Popgadget Gift Guide 2005: $400 to $1,000

This forthcoming PDA-phone, the 02 Xda Atom, is supposedly the smallest multimedia PDA-phone in the world. Running on Windows Mobile 5.0, features include a 2-megapixel camera with LED flash, 262K-colour QVGA display, onboard Wi-Fi and FM tuner. While I'm not generally a fan of mini PDA-phones due to the tiny screen sizes, smaller is undeniably sexier. While yet to be released anywhere in the world, it can be pre-ordered from various sites, such as eXpansys. (Saresha)

Set up a portable, inflatable whirlpool in minutes without the costly setup of a permanent hot tub installation. The control panel allows you to adjust the water temperature and it's spacious enough to accommodate 4 adults. $899.95 at Hammacher Schlemmer. (Jenna)

Shure E5c Sound Isolating Earphones, for $499, deliver professional-level audio quality. Comes with a kit of various sleeves for a personalized fit, and memory-fit earphone cables (to retain their shape around the ears), and a carrying case. (Brian)

The Sharp Aquos LCD, model LC-15PX1U, has a beautiful bright screen, plus a built-in DVR with a hard drive for recording shows and time-shifting live tv. $799 at Etronics. (Mia)

Popgadget Gift Guide 2005: $100 to $400

Nabaztag, the French wifi rabbit is a combination of an Aibo, i-Dog, and Ambient Beacon. It can broadcast the weather or traffic reports, announce your emails, read your text messages to you, and sing, all while moving its ears and flashing multi-colored lights. Nabaztags can also communicate with each other through "nabcasts", podcasts for electric rabbits. Sounds silly but the demo is so charming and oddly compelling. Nabaztag can operate in English, but is only available from French retailers (they ship worldwide, but you need to be able to navigate the order forms in French). Nabaztag is 95 Euros, about $112. (Mia)

Finally a hand-vac handsome and sleek enough to display out in the open, it's almost like a piece of sculpture. $130 at retromodern. (Jenna)

If you don't want to shell out the $15,000 or so for a 60" plasma screen, you can use a Zoombox to project a 60" picture onto any wall. A DVD/CD player and speakers are built into the projector and you can connect it to just about any other external source like your tv or game console. The Zoombox Entertainment Projector is $299. (Mia)

This small Garmin GPS (just 5.6 oz.) has a 256-color TFT sunlight-readable display and weatherproof case. Comes pre-loaded with U.S. basemap, and detail maps can be uploaded via USB. 24 megabyte memory, runs 36 hours on two AA batteries, compatible with most MapSource products. The Garmin eTrex Legend is $245 at REI. (Hoyun)

Popgadget Gift Guide 2005: Under $100

Who could resist playing with this interactive sculpture ? It's mesmerizing just to look at. A reproduction of a Richard Zawitz work of art, its curved sections rotate to form many different shapes. Made of die-cast metal with a mirror finish, it's like high-class worry beads. Sold at W Hotels The Store for $70. (Brian)

Foldable travel speakers available at MoMAstore for $45 are lightweight and operate on 4 AAA batteries or 6V DC adapter. Works with iPods, mp3 players, CD players, portable DVD players, and laptops. (Jenna)

Plug in the Seirus Quickdry Boot/Glove Dryer into a 110v outlet, slip the heaters into your cold, wet boots, and they'll be warm and dry for your next slosh through the snow. Available at REI for $49. (Hoyun)

Adopt a panda mom and cub, snow leopard kittens or an entire polar bear family in your best friend's name this holiday. It's a symbolic adoption through World Wildlife Fund, but the person you buy the adoption for receives, in the case of panda mom and cub, a limited-edition Gund plush panda, an adoption certificate, desktop images, a screensaver, and panda AIM icons. $50-100. (Sheigh)

Lola Go Lightly make-up compact with everything you need in a tiny travel-friendly size. $38 at Sephora. (Katherine)

Popgadget Gift Guide 2005: Stocking Stuffers

Custom personal electronics case. The foam layers can be customized to fit any small device. $24.99 at the Container Store. (Jenna)

The Ready, Set, Joe one-cup coffeemaker for a quick, real-brewed cup. $7.99 at Amazon. (Hoyun)

The Neo Kaiju - Super7 toys created by Strangeco come in a flat filled with 20 figures cradled in translucent blue eggs. There are two original characters each designed by artists Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Seonna Hong, Todd Schorr and Kathy Staico Schorr. One character is a rendering of a Japanese monster, the other is an original design. $160 for 20 or $8 per stocking at Super7. Much more collectible and 'one-time only' than a Kinder Egg. (Sheigh)

Memorialize, or put to bed, his art world dominance in 2005 with the Takashi Murakami Super Flat Museum set. Zakka Corp. is selling a complete set of ten Murakami figures for $100 or $10 per stocking. Stick the cute mushrooms on your Buche de Noel for an iconic 2005! (Sheigh)
