Mark your calenders for 9/22/2006

onewebday.jpg

September 22, 2006 will mark the first One Web Day. The organizers encourage any and all web enthusiasts to gather experts and newbies together to meet, share and create all things web related. Modeled after Earth Day, OneWebDay also takes cues from the DIY and peer-production community and remixes them with community service. Brainstorming events have taken place in Chicago and Boston. Suggested projects from the OneWebDay website include: teach your grandmother to blog, make an entry for your neighborhood in Wikipedia, teach your boss how to IM, and build a website for a local non-profit. Participants are also encouraged to write, photograph, post and tag their experiences. They even devised a handshake, ok it is more like a hand signal, but you can read about it in their about page. For more information, check out their blog and project wiki.
