Do you remember Logo? No, not the gay Viacom cable channel. Logo was a programing language from the 80s developed at MIT. Using Logo, you could control the robot Turtle. By entering commands, you were also able to use the Turtle's pen to draw geometric shapes. Flash forward to 2006, when Leonel Moura (with IdMind) has created a robotic action painter (RAP). This robot can paint on its own using AI algorithms. When RAP's algorithms declare it is done, it then "signs" the work in the bottom right hand corner. The website describes the initial implementation of RAP for museum and long exhibition displays; however I anticipate more interesting experiments and applications to come.
