Motion Bands

Can you really stop motion sickness with pressure? These Motion Bands will bet you ten bucks (for a pair) that the answer is yes. The button discs embedded in these warmers are supposed to rest snugly on pressure points on the underside of the wrist, relieving discomfort. (I wonder if they are magnetic.) Not quite Dramamine, but probably less expensive.

I used to use these as a kid, and they do work. No magnets - they're just hard pieces of plastic that sit on the pressure points. You can try it out yourself by just pressing the points. It's 3 fingers down from the wrist line, just between the two tendons (I think? Something hard & kinda squishy) there. When I didn't have the bracelets, I used to use a hand to hit the point on the other wrist, pressing on the points. It's not fool-proof, but it helps. Anything helps when you're feeling greenish, though.

These were my lifeline when I was pregnant! It totally helped with motion sickness, and I used them for years when I would fly. They are not magnetic, to my knowledge, but rather VERY snug and do press firmly on your pressure points.
Worked for me.

I actually had these growing up, and they worked incredibly well on car trips and on airplanes. They aren't magnetic: they just press snuggly against your wrists. Plus, unlike Dramamine, they don't zonk you out.

The Mythbusters found that these didn't work as well as ginger pills. Not exactly double blind, but for what it's worth:

these things are amazing. they let me read in a car without nausea for the first time in my life 10 years ago and i've had at least one pair ever since. i don't take long trips - road or plane - without them.

I had to be the lone, dissenter, but I used these on a cruise several years ago and they didn't help at all. Sorry...

Agree with Megan - same story, when I was a kid.. about 25 years ago I remember using these.
They were called 'SeaBands', perhaps throw a 'Z' in there at the end for modern day coolness now. ;)
