SONOS PLAY 3 Music System
Play 3 by Sonos is the all-in-one wireless home music system that easily streams music into any (and every) room of the house from pretty much anywhere. Play 3 refers to the 3 state-of the-art digital amplifiers individually coupled with 3 speakers which kick butt (tech term.)
Easy breezy set-up plus you can control the music wirelessly using a free app for your iPad, iPhone or Android smartphone. And you can stream music services such as Pandora, Rhapsody, Spotify, Sirius, as well as your home music library, iTunes, etc.
It's compact, versatile - the speakers work horizontally or vertically -- and a good price for the audio quality ($299.) Anyone would be happy to find this under their tree!
Available at Target.
Here's another personal security gizmo, aimed at giving you some peace of mind. It's basically an alarm built into backpacks, laptop bags and fanny packs (we assume they call them "waist bags," because fanny packs are such a fashion faux pas.)
It's very simple to operate - you pull a pin - and weighs less than 1 lb with batteries installed. The hidden alram sends off a shriek which hopefully will send the attacker running or summon help.
Handy for joggers, travelers and a great gift for an active Grandparent.
$39.99 at iSafe Bags.
ABLE PLANET : TRUE FIDELITY HEADPHONES
Two for them; one for me. That's my shopping motto. And these CLEAR HARMONY (NC600) Active Noise Canceling Headphones with LINX are going in MY stocking this year.
These Able Planet entry level cans are $99 and offer good fidelity for that price point. The LINX audio helps take out some of the distortion, kick-ups the vocals and makes for a better listening experience.
You'll notice the difference especially in the upper mids.
The in-line volume control makes it easy to adjust the volume and the active noise cancelation (ANC) works well.
We bet you'll want to keep these all for yourself this year.
NETFLIX: Let Them Pick Their Gift
Every year there's a few pesky "What-are-we-going-to-get THEM?"people on your shopping list. And let's not forget the late-gifter, who Xmas Eve are still looking for the perfect gift.
We say: Get them a Netflix subscription. This way they can pick their own entertainment and you look like a super Santa. By buying the subscription for someone online at Netflix.com/gift, they can just print it out and start streaming immediately.
It's always the right size, tasteful and fits in your budget. ($7.99 for unlimited streaming memberships.)
If your friends have munchkins, opt for the new Netflix's "Just for Kids" which offers family-friendly safe viewing of kid's content (ie all things Dora or Spongebob, etc.) for ages 10 and under.
Tablets are going to be big this year, so good to know that Netflix works on both the Kindle Fire and Nook (as well as Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, Roku, iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.)
