Personal Security Device: 5 Star Responder
Without scaring you with real-life scenarios, let's just say that you can take this mobile device from 5Star Responder and 5Star Urgent Response service -- anywhere; attach to your (jogging) clothing, your purse or put in on your keychain. With a touch of a button it connects you to "Certified Response Agents, "who then can ID you and your location; can summon family; put a nurse on the phone or call emergency services if need be.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the proliferation of personal security devices? It may be a sign of an aging demograhic. For instance, I'd feel better knowing that a grandfather who jogs regularly has one of this with him at all times.
Weighing in at a mere 1.8 ounces, it's easy to stash and convenient to use. The service is also available as a stand-alone smartphone app for iPhone.
It's not just for the older folk however. The company recently did a survery on "common sense" safety practices and the results were pretty scary!
72% -- Walk or jog alone in sparsely developed areas
71% -- Forget to lock the doors at night
67% -- Drive without enough gas in the tank
64% -- Park in a dark and secluded or remote area
58% -- Go on a blind date without telling someone where they are going
The monthy fee for 5Star is $14.99 a month with no contracts and no cancellation fees. Service for each additional device is $8.99 a month.
So get one for a grandparent - and one for yourself.
