Buying guide: Travel accessories
When you're travelling, whether it's for work or a relaxing summer vacation, it can be hard to carry around your usual gadgets and accessories.
So, we've created a list of travel-friendly technology, from tough cameras to a special little tool that'll weigh your luggage for you!
Sony's small, pocket-sized eReader is the perfect addition to your travels. Not only is the device super slim and lightweight, but it has a very small yet perfectly adequate 5" touch screen. The PRS-350 seems to need charging every two weeks, which doesn't make it the best eReader on the market for battery power, but does mean it'll last your whole vacation without needing to be topped up.
There are a lot of different eReaders on the market, but with the Sony PRS-350 you're getting a super compact product from a trusted brand that still doesn't break the bank.
Available in silver and pink from Amazon for around $199.95.
The Hi-Sun is a bag, beach towel, inflatable pillow and speakers all in one colorful package, making it ideal for trips to the beach or pool.
You can use most devices with the speakers that have a 3.5mm universal jack, which includes iPhones, iPods and a range of MP3 players.
Available from hi-fun for around $86 (59.90 euro).
These digital scales from specialist brand, Balanzza, are the smallest and lightest luggage scales on the market according to the product's Amazon page.
The device has been specially designed to make it really easy to pick up heavy bags and still be able to read their weight accurately, even if you're travelling on your own.
To many people it may seem like a waste of money and space to take scales away with you, but if you've been caught out in the past, you know how frustrating it can be when you miscalculate the weight of your luggage and have to pay extra fees.
Available from Amazon for around $17.95.
This portable charger is perfect for travel, but would probably come in handy if you're camping, at a festival or even on your way to work when you've forgotten to charge your phone the night before!
The great thing about the Pebble charger is that it comes with a range of attachments, meaning it can charge an iPhone, a flip camcorder, an iPod and a range of other popular phone, music and recording devices.
Once fully charged itself, the Pebble can charge an iPhone four times over, so the device isn't just a stop-gap, you may not need to plug anything into an actual power supply for your whole trip.
Available from Firebox for around $68 (41.99 GBP).
My favourite product on the whole list, The Yelpie Portable Safe is a brilliant device designed to keep your personal belongings safe while you sunbath, swim or ride around on that jet-ski!
You put all of your valuables inside the Yelpie, or if they're too big tie them to it. You then set the alarm, so if anyone tries to steal anything you'll be alerted by an incredibly loud 90dB ringing noise!
The Yelpie is also very clever and knows what's just a harmless knock and what's an attempt to steal your valuables.
Available from CuteBitz for around $49 (29.95 GBP).
This tough cookie camera from Olympus is waterproof, shock-proof and freeze-proof, making it ideal for anything from a relaxing beach holiday to something much more extreme.
However, this bright little camera isn't just really robust, it also takes great 14mp photos as well as 720p HD movie with HDMI. There are probably better cameras on the market, but if you want something you can throw around and not worry about, then the TG-310 is definitely for you.
Available in a range of colors from Amazon for around $149.
