Facebook launches video calling
During a special announcement from the Facebook team last night, it was revealed that a raft of new features would be added to the social network, including a new design, group chat and video calling.
The video calling, to be launched in partnership with Skype, is a feature that users have been asking for for some time now and it certainly seems like that next step after the introduction of Facebook chat. The video calling feature will allow users to talk to any of their friends face-to-face if they're online and no one needs a Skype account already to take part.
The new group chat functionality allows users to have instant chats with whoever's online. If someone happens to be offline or has to leave mid-conversation they'll be sent a transcript of the chat later!
Finally, the new design ties in with the new chatting functionality, as it'll allow users to see who's online in a much easier way, rather than clicking on the little pop-up in the bottom right-hand corner.
All of the new features are apparently being rolled out right now, so expect all of your friends to be able to chat away in the next few weeks!
