Cicadidae concept alarm wakes even the heaviest of sleepers
I'm such a light sleeper, a dripping tap downstairs will somehow manage to wake me up and stop me getting a good night's rest until the morning. However, there are plenty of people who are the opposite and have problems because even their alarm clocks don't manage to wake them up, or they do and they have a habit of just hitting snooze and nodding off again.
A new concept alarm clock called the Cicadidae aims to help heavy sleepers wake up, no matter how dead to the world they may be.
The idea for Cicadidae comes from designer Jongwoo Choi and works by sending a bluetooth signal to dongles around your home that can be attached to all kinds of electrical equipment, including televisions, speakers, radios and computers.
So, instead of just one alarm clock going off that you can either sleep through or turn off, every electrical device in your house can be set to be super noisy and irritating so you have no choice but to get up and turn everything off.
It seems like a pretty extreme measure to take, but I don't doubt that some people may need it, especially on a Monday morning.
