Popgadget American Express Giveaway: 50,000 Point Picks
Popgadget is giving away a $100 Gift Card from American Express, and all you have to do is take a look at the Membership Rewards catalog and share what you would do with your points to be entered to win. I'm sharing my own top five in the 50,000 points category. Gadgetry, as always, seems to take up most of my picks, but baby gear is now a close second.
Somehow, with his natural monkeyness (and a lot of assistance from his auntie), my baby son learned how to climb up steps months before he learned to walk. This Step2 Treehouse looks perfect to help him perfect his method, while also doing his other favorite activity: sliding down while screaming like a madman.
My father, tragically, loves technology but it doesn't love him. If he so much as walks within five feet of a computer, it spits out a blue screen of death, begging mercy. It's a strange power. Anyway, because of this he has a fax machine that uses that old crinkly thermal paper from the 1800s because the family is afraid of the collateral damage an upgrade would cause- but it's getting harder and harder to buy that ancient paper. Time to call in the bomb squad and upgrade to this Brother Color Ink Jet All in One. This ink jet faxes, prints, copies, is an answering machine, connects through wifi and ethernet, and has a touch screen. Best of all it uses normal ink cartridges and paper.
Without knowing a thing about Dr. Sears, I have unwittingly become a proponent of attachment parenting, meaning my baby is pretty literally attached to me almost 24/7. He's getting bigger now, and my arms may start to fall out of their sockets if I don't get him sitting on his own sometimes. This Peg Perego high chair has four reclining positions and wheels so I can just cart him along next to me, hopefully letting us retain a little of that marsupial bond.
The reviews of the new Casio Tryx digital camera are decidedly mixed. Is it a weird-looking gimmick, or is it the beginning of a new wave of lifestyle cameras that make advanced photo techniques like panoramic shooting a lot easier? I'm not sure, but I want to find out for myself.
Because my smartphones (iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S) can take decent photos and videos, I find that I rarely take a real camera out with me. I love the convenience, but I end up with 15-second clips because I don't want to wear down my phone's battery. This Sony Camcorder has 4 GB of storage, up to 3 hours of video-shooting battery power, and an incredible 60x zoom lens. That's practically a telescope, and the camera only weighs 6 oz, barely more than a cell phone.
