Obtract app stops you getting distracted
I admit that I often find it hard to concentrate, particularly when I'm trying to work on my laptop. There are just so many things out there to distract us, from useful news articles and interesting tweets, to mindless Facebook stalking and gossip blogs. The list really could go on and on!
Various apps and services have been designed to keep us all on track and stop us from visiting the sites that distract us the most, such as Leech Block and Chrome Nanny. However, my favourite concept so far has to be the Obtract app.
The Obtract app by developer Eric St. Onge lets you choose which programmes and applications are distracting and then monitors your time on them.
If you manage to work solidly without distractions the app will reward you with a little harmless Facebook time, but not too much, it'll force you to get back to work soon after! If you really want to stay distracted then the app will force you to complete a maze to be sure that you're making a conscious decision to not be doing your actual work instead of just mindlessly scrolling through gossip websites.
