In case you haven't noticed, we've been on a hair kick here at PG. This week, we tried the Number 4 High Performance Hair Product line, specifically the Fleurs de Temps Volumizing shampoo and conditioner.
We're happy to report that it works as good as it smells (heavenly.) It gave our hair more volume and left it shiny and salon-worthy.
The company says that it uses "An advanced delivery system that takes beneficial botanical ingredients" so they can be absorbed by the hair.
Some of the ingredients include:
Vitamin B5 ; Liquid Vitality Complex (Acai Berry, Hibicscus, Mangosteen, Vitamin C); antioxidants, and "Liquid Defense Complex" (Burdock Root, Oolong Tea, Irish Moss, Vegetable Protein.)
After just a few washes our hair felt stronger and certainly looked better.
We're also fans of the deep cleansing treatment which you use every week but doesn't strip the hair of moisture and color.
And who doesn't like that everything Number 4 makes is 100% Vegan, Gluten Free, Sulfate Free, and Paraben Free.
At $45 for 8.5 oz it's expensive but since it's concentrated, a little goes a long way.
Available at all fine salons and Amazon.
Here's a unique iPhone case we just discovered - the Stack case, imagined by industrial designer Erik Arlen. Six colored modular sections stack together to create a protective case, while still keeping your iPhone slim.Slide and interlock the different stackable pieces for a customizable look for your iPhone. The "kit" contains 6 modular pieces, with 4 extra additional pieces included in Passion Play, Full Volume and Mechanica color sets
It's like a little piece of modern art for iPhone. $34.99 at Case-mate.
The Creative D100 is like a modern day boombox -kicking out great wireless audio from any Bluetooth-enabled wireless device.(It also works with non-wireless MP3 players via the integrated AUX-in port.)
Take it to the beach, party or just the backyard around the pool. The speakers stream music from a range of up to 10 meters so use your mobile phone, notebook, iPhone or iPad to get the party started.
The audio is surprisingly good, especially the bass blasting from the from the dual 3-inch drivers.
Only $79 from Creative.
All of us can get all gussied up- even without the parade of stylists the celebrities have on retainer - and look stunning for one special night. But how do all those stars keep their hair so healthy and beautiful looking all year 'round?
So we asked colorist-to-the-stars, Kazumi at the Beverly Hills Gavert-Atlelier salon, what the secret was.
The East meets West salon (almost all the stylists are Japanese and they employ advanced techniques from Asia) features a proprietary color gloss treatment which only takes 15 minutes but can last for months. For color treated hair, it keeps the color bright and hair shiny.
Kazumi recommends using a color safe shampoo (such as Infenom by Milbon or the color shampoo by Aveda.)
So, even if you can't get an appointment with Kazumi, ask your stylist for a long-lasting color gloss treatment and have red carpet ready hair all year.
Are you a couch potato? Then you need Logitech's new Couch Mouse M515. It's made for surfing the Internet on your couch, bed or carpet. Its sealed bottom won’t collect fabric fuzz in the sensor opening, and its easy-gliding base means your mouse tracks smoothly on blankets.
It works by hand detection so it goes to sleep when you do. And the "plug and forget" feature means that the tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop—so it’s less likely to be lost—and gives you a reliable connection with virtually no delays or dropouts. (Figure two years of battery life.)
$49.99 at Logitech.
My only question: What took them so long?
Sundance is about the films of course, but after viewing zillions of flicks in one day celebs, writers, and film makers took a break at the GBK suite and loaded up on ...wait for it...hair products. The SH-RD hair line had something for everyone, from under-nourished, parched or just in need of some luxurious care. (Their protein cream is the best for blocking UV rays and preventing environmental damage.$42.00)
We spotted Twilight saga and Breaking Dawn star Chaske Spencer at the GBK suite who picked up some SH-RD Hair care, and told us how he couldn't ski or snowboard or he could lose his job in the Twilight series. (standard in most movie star contracts but tough when you're in Park City.)
Rick Fox and Eliza Dushku also dropped in (pictured) and tried to pretend they weren't a couple, but no one was buying it.
We'll be giving away some of the SH-RD products on Popgadget so check back!
Its about time our Sims Avatars stopped all the partying (Nightlife), buying stuff (High-End Loft Stuff), galivanting around the globe (World Adventures) or just hanging out (Free Time.)
Time to get a job, Simsy. With The Sims 3 Ambitions, its still a heck of a good time, as you decide decide whether your Sim will be the brave town hero or be a troublemaker. Make your Sim save the day as a brave firefighter, change the town as a leading architect, or live on the edge as a tattoo artist.
We chose billionaire high-tech inventor (go figure) but you can also be a bumbling mad scientist. The real fun is that for the first time ever, you control ALL your Sim’s actions and interactions while they’re on the job and what you do effects the entire town. For example, if you're an architect, your on-the-job decisions are going to alter how the town looks. As a P.I. you may discover dirt on the leading family.
Be a hero or ghost hunter (seriously.) Just don't be that party-girl avatar all the time. (Yes, I'm talking to my avatar!)
$29.95 from EA Games.
We're a hair gadget addict. There, we admitted it. We try every product that promises to give us princess locks, from hair dryers to styling gel. We have more bottles of goop than we could possibly use in a year.
But we're always looking for the magic elixir, something that will give our blond mane shine and body, keep it from frizzing, protect the color, and soothe the scalp. Is that too much to ask?
A new potion called Black 15 in 1, promises to do all of that, with just a few spritzs to the hair. The company claims that their leave-in treatment takes the place of all the other conditioning and styling products, which could certainly save us money and time.
There is no miracle ingredient that we can tell; a mixture of keratin and pro-vitamin B5 , aloe vera, marigold flower extract, green tea leaf extract. The plastic bottle is off-putting though, looking like a cheap drugstore perfume, but heck , if it does what it promises, packaging smackaging.
3.3 oz. (100ml) for $20.
CES brought some great new gadgets (think tablets) but along with the tech advances were some really fun new gizmos.
Take the Aroma Float which not only scents the air but provides a light show for the bather. I don't know about you, but I've always wanted a disco in my bath. Rechargeable and waterproof, the aromatherapy lantern displays interchangeable patterns on its surface when lit. There's 3 changeable films in different patterns (included) and the Aroma Float is available in in 2 power-options: 3 x AAA batteries OR rechargeable with charging dock and powered by AC/DC adaptor .
