Jenny McCarthy and Ubisoft Team Up For New Fitness Game

First Jillian Michaels, now Jenny McCarthy, it seems like everyone is trying to get in on the fitness gaming craze. Started by the highly successful Wii Fit, fitness games appeal to people that may not have the time to get to the gym or don't want to spend their hard-earned dollars on a gym membership.

Your Shape
, Ubisoft's addition to the fitness genre hopes to surpass Wii Fit's impressive sales numbers with more precise exercise movements, a little innovation, and a little help from funny woman Jenny McCarthy filling the spot of your in-game workout buddy. The Nintendo exclusive game features over 400 exercises including strength training, toning, and cardio. Unlike other fitness games, Your Shape is totally Wiimote free. So how does the game make sure your doing the exercise? Simple. Your Shape will be debuting the first ever camera for the Nintendo Wii.

The included camera will scans your body and detects your movements. After the initial scan, it projects your image onto the TV screen so you can watch your movements. As you exercise, the camera will be monitoring your motion to ensure you're not phoning it in and have the correct form. If you're slacking, or just not getting the movement down, Jenny will help you correct your form in real time.

Recognizing that everyone has different fitness needs, the game creates a personalized workout program built to meet your specific needs. When you first turn the game on, it gives you a fitness test and asks you about your fitness goals (toning, weight loss, etc.) and the time you can dedicate to working out. From there it creates your workout program, seamlessly combining intensity with the right exercises. Each exercise incorporated into your newly created routine is designed to keep your heart rate at its optimal level. As you continue to work out, the game tracks your progress according to your goals.

Another cool feature is that you can make use of your own equipment. Finally, there's a little motivation to grab those free weights that have been sitting in the corner gathering dust. And that exercise ball will do more than elicit wistful "maybe I'll start working out tomorow' sighs. And with Jenny there to motivate you and keep things light with a few jokes, exercising won't seem like such a chore, at least that's the hope.

In addition to the game, Ubisoft has created a website filled with helpful articles and video. There are also weekly tips from Ms. McCarthy as well as blog posts from Laurel House, the Your Shape spokeswoman, and helpful forums.

Your Shape doesn't hit shelves until November 24, which is suspiciously close to Thanksgiving. You can pre-order the game from Amazon.com with the following link.
