D&G Jalou: A Gem of a Phone

Sony Ericsson has teamed up with the masters of luxury and elegance Dolce&Gabbana to create the Jalou, the newest luxury phone that all the starlets will be clamoring for and regular Jills like me will long wistfully for. The Jalou is a limited edition affair, set to hit chosen markets sometime near the end of this year.

The 73 x 45 x 18.2 mm cell phone is smaller than your favorite tube of lipstick and definitely a looker. Done in an elegant clamshell, the exterior of the phone is facet cut to mimic the look of a jewel. And while there the regular Jalou will be available in gem-inspired colors like Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black, the D&G version is on available in Sparkling Rose. Even the packaging is ultra-lux. There will be three rose satin bags: one to carry the phone, another for the charger, and yet another one for any jewelery you might need to carry along.

The limited edition Jalou also comes with a Dolce & Gabbana headset with delicate gold accents to let you answer your calls with a bit of flair. And if that isn't exclusive enough, the D&G edition comes with exclusive content preloaded onto the phone including photos and videos from the 2010 Autumn/Winter runway show, wallpaper and a RSS feed from the Dolce & Gabbana blog, keeping you plugged in to the latest news of the lifestyles of the perfectly coiffed and fabulous.

So lets talk features. With such pretty externals and all the extra flourish, you'd expect this phone to be an operation in flash more than substance, but the Jalou and the D&G version have some solid tech to offer with it's pretty little frame. The two inch screen is great for checking out all the latest and greatest fashion without straining your eyes, but with the touch of a button it transforms to a mirror, so you can stay looking you're very best no matter where you are. The Jalou is also the first phone to feature Sony Ericcson's new Walk Mate step counter, so you can be sure you're getting your 10,000 steps a day.

The fab phone also comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with 3.2x digital zoom, stereo FM radio, SMS, and MMS. It has an internal memory of 100 MB, but supports SanDisk microSD so memory shouldn't be a problem.

The ads for this fashion icon are expected to be hitting the airwaves in October, so we should know how much of a hit our bottom lines will have to take to be a part of the fashion forward.
