Lexie Barnes Bags - Make Your Own Lexie

It's no secret that the editors here at PG love the colorful Lexie Barnes bags, especially the beautiful laptop creations.
So we were curious when Lexie decided to write a book, "Sew What! Bags: 18 Pattern-Free Projects You Can Customize to Fit Your Needs", about making these bags for yourself.
In Lexie's book, she shows you how to use fun, bright fabrics to make totes, drawstring sacks, messenger bags, organizers, satchels, and purses in a wide range of sizes and shapes. Every project is shown in a full-color photo accompanied by step-by-step, illustrated instructions. Many more variations in size, fabric combinations, and styling features are also pictured to show just a few of the dozens of possibilities for customizing each project.
When we asked Lexie why she wrote this book, the designer told us:
"Sew What! Bags" is about the freedom of designing your own bag. There are 18 pattern-free projects that show readers how to lay out their stuff and make a bag to suit their very own needs. The projects aren't complicated or technical, like some of the bags from my own line. Rather, they are easy, fun, and satisfying. I have a lot of customers who are crafters. This book was a terrific chance for me to share my personal style with them in a new way. Because there are no patterns, everyone's project will be unique and special. We'll have a flickr page where everyone can share -- I can't wait to see how the bags turn out!"For you creative types out there, her book comes out feb 1 ; you can can pre-order signed copies for $16.95 on the main site or on the book site: sewwhatbags.com, which should be live next week.
