Let your olfactory system indulge with Rub and Smell discs

rub-and-smell-cd.jpg

Playing on the fact that, very often, our sense of smell subconciously drives our decision to buy or reject a product, a company called “CD Digital Card” has introduced rub-and-smell CDs and DVDs that give out various scents as you rub the surface - fresh fruit, flowers, coffee and ooh…pizza.

The discs have their surface coated with scented ink – which we assume is intended towards associating a smell with a specific movie or music album. The company claims that the possibilities are apparently huge for this technology. Sample this “You can actually create a CD or DVD for a florist that actually smells like flowers!”. Mmm-hmm, and let us also add that you will have to risk being banned from the florist’s corner for life. Not to mention that his sheer frustration with the gift is totally left to imagination. Some of the scents on offer that really caught our attention – Apple (Macintosh ?), Stinky Cheese, New Car Smell.

Come to think of it, it might not be such a bad idea for your kid to gift “Stinky Cheese” to his classroom bully.
