E-reader at Target (and on your iPhone)

Last fall, Popgadget's Chrissie loved her Sony PRS500 Portable Reader System, and now the new PRS-505 Reader (wow, I love these product names, they're so snappy and easy-to-remember, aren't they?) has hit Target stores nationwide, just a week after going on sale in the UK.
I still haven't had my hands on one of these beauties, but as I wrote last week on a British books blog, I am excited by their possibilities. However, they do cost around $300 (more in the UK) so I won't be committing quite just yet. For those of you in a similar situation, but in possession of an iPhone or iPod Touch, however, there is another option...
Geek goddess Cali Lewis reports that a free application from E Reader.com turns your i-device into an e-reader, allowing you to buy books which automatically show up on your iPhone or iPod Touch. The disadvantage is that these gadgets don't come equipped with e-ink, so may be a little harder on the eyes, but you can view books in landscape mode and change text size, so it might be a good way to find out if e-reading works for you.
