iPhone 2.0 announcement imminent

I can't even pretend to play it cool. The online Apple store is down, and that's pretty much all over the world. What could be happening? It's the new iPhone, known as either iPhone 2.0 or the 3G iPhone. The announcement will be happening in just a minute, and I'll be breathlessly updating you. If it's true that the new iPhone is immediately available, I will have a hands-on review in minutes because I live steps from an Apple store.

Update: And iPhone 3G it is. That's what it's called. And it's thinner and will be cheaper. Better battery life, and yes, yes, yes, real GPS!
