Under the Radar conference for social media and entertainment

Getting to network with other entrepeneurs - fascinating. Speeches by experts in tech and entertainment - valuable. Getting face-to face with VCs - priceless
The same folks who run Dealmaker LA put on the Under The Radar conference at the MSFT campus in Mountain View, CA June 3, which they boast is "Silicon Valley's most effective one-stop shop for networking and deal flow." This year, UTR will showcase 40 vetted and test-driven startups in the entertainment and social media space, all with the intention of getting deals done. Friends of mine who have gone told me it was the best $650 they ever spent (for a one day event). Just as an example, past participants at UTR include Flickr, Jumpcut, Photobucket, and Userplane, which as we all know, went on to big success.
As the theme this year is social media and entertainment, expect 350 entrepreneurs, VCs, and senior business/corporate development executives from large tech and media companies including: Disney, Fox Interactive, Google, IAC, Microsoft, MySpace, Yahoo, Adobe, AKQA, CAA, William Morris Agency, CBS Interactive, Vivendi Universal, CondeNet, Columbia Pictures, and Nielsen.
Getting a chance to showcase their companies are some early adaptors in the social media space:
Animoto - Create personalized, professional-quality videos from images and music, offering a new alternative to traditional online photo slideshows .
Dizzywood - A virtual world that allows kids to dress up 3D avatars, play games, explore worlds and meet new friends in a safe environment.
Mytopia - Social gaming community for Web, mobile, smartphone and TV.
For more on the 40 start-ups, check out the presenters section on Under The Radar. Good luck to everyone . . . and don't come home without the financing!
