Bookshelf blog offers some unusual and innovative storage solutions
Ever since we moved house (um, over a year ago now) I've lacked proper storage for my (many many) books. I'm not a hoarder: I've given Hefty bags full of books to charity and sold lots of my stash on Amazon, but my windowsill/makeshift bookcase is becoming increasingly overloaded and let's not even mention the boxes in the hall closet...
Rather than actually doing anything about this problem, I've been spending time online. More specifically, I've taken to drooling over the delicious variety of storage options on display on the internet. I don't want to rush my decision until I've seen what's on offer, after all.
When my former colleague Keris alerted me to a blog called simply Bookshelf, I knew I'd found my spiritual home - and that my books might soon find their literal home. The site highlights cool and clever book storage solutions from around the world. The Igloo (pictured below) is ideal for loft living as it makes a book-surrounded cocoon for a bed, but it's a bit too claustrophobic (or maybe just odd) for me. (Kudos on the flamingo, though).

I live in a small apartment which precludes anything like this stairs storage idea but this beautiful Dailey and Turner design caught my eye, so it looks like it's on the shortlist - along with this ingenious bookcase-in-the-rafters from Apartment Therapy. (Well, they do say reading elevates the mind...)
