USB drives from LG to drive away security woes

lgusb-biometric-antivirus.jpg

With the idea of breaking new ground in the already crowded market of USB drives, LG has introduced the concept of security in their latest line of flash drives. The company has recently annouced two new flash drives in the UK – the biometric fingerprint scanning drive and the real-time virus monitoring drive.

The drive with biometric fingerprint scanning technology has the ability to store the fingerprint identities of 10 different users. Meaning, once the drive has been loaded with the fingerprints of authorised users, you don’t have to bother about data getting into the wrong (fingers) hands. Plus, there is also the added safety of setting a password over-and-above the fingerprint scanning. And then there is the Vaccine USB drive, which boasts very cool real-time system monitoring. Just plug in the drive to your PC/laptop and the drive automatically monitors incoming traffic for viruses and malware. The license for the virus monitoring software is valid for a limited 2-year period after which it will have to be renewed at an additional cost.

The sleek black drives are to be available in standard capacities – the biometric ranging between 512MB and 4GB, and the Vaccine ranging between 512MB and 8GB. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing just yet.
