Run quick: Electronic fat meter on its way from Japan

Do we really need this? A precise electronic, abdominal fat meter that can measure the amount of fat deep inside of you, even around your organs? The AB-101, made by Tanika Corp, does its thing in about 30 seconds while you lie calmly on your back with no idea that you're about to learn something about yourself that may surprise you. I can just see personal trainers employing this machine at gymnasiums all over the country, as yet another tool to scare you into exercising. This sadistic device sells for 294,000 yen (about $2,750 USD).

Tickled Pink - new pink iPod nano

Just in time for Valentines Day, Apple announced a new color iPod, pink of course. What can I tell you that you don't already know about the nano that plays video? That the 4GB model costs $149, the 8GB iPod costs $199? It includes free engraving on the back and free shipping when purchased at Apple's web store or Amazon.
And ...it's pink.

Meet Mysto, Helio's new slider cell phone: First look

We love Helio phones, they're fun, cutting edge, beautifully designed, and have quirky Helio extras. Helio strives to be a fun brand with a lot of appeal to a younger audience - you can almost feel a little bit of a Mac-like cult in an non-Mac product. As long as you can appreciate creative acronyms like WHERE and H.O.T., you’ll be able to digest this overview of Helio’s new slider Mysto.
Now, beyond the 2.22’ large reflective screen, electrostatic hot keys and a sleek sapphire blue color there are a number of features that we've tried t decode for you:
GPS on steroids - Never be lost again with GPS-enabled Google Maps, Buddy Beacon helps your friends locate you (if you provide permission) and vice versa, Tellme, a local GPS-based search application with voice recognition, and turn-by-turn voice navigation Garmin Mobile (available). WHERE application is free and provides customized location-based widgets on Mysto (cheapest gas stations, a pub finder, local golf course locator, etc.).
Inbox for the info hungry - Never miss a message or an opportunity with IMs, text, pictures and video messaging, and email. Wirelessly synch email, calendar and contacts from Microsoft Exchange Server. Single-click search provides instant results from Yahoo!, Google, Wikipedia, Amazon.com and Yelp. Surf with an open HTML browser and drill down with its zoom function. H.O.T. (Helio On Top) delivers customizable RSS.

Pink Sleeve

To console myself because I can't zip over to our local Apple store and spend $1,700 on the new MacBook Air, I bought a new sleeve for my MacBook.
As you can see, it's a lovely neoprene shade of pink, and the cushioned interior hugs my laptop to keep it safe. The Incase sleeve also comes in 12" for the PowerBook and in 4 other smashing colors.
At $34.95, figure I saved a whole hunk of money though my MacBook still weighs 13 lbs to the MacBook Air's 3 lbs. Sigh.
