Google application for iPhone

google-iphone.jpg

Google has announced that it's releasing an application for the iPhone that will combine email, search and calendar functions into the one interface, in line with its broader plans to develop new mobile technologies for additional devices, launch its own wireless network, and develop an operating system for mobile phones (called "Android").

I'm afraid I lack the imagination to get really excited about these developments just yet (the same lack of imagination that kept me from buying my iPhone until last month). What I really want for my iPhone is for it to have some of the basic, if not so sexy, applications I used to have on my old smartphones, like secure password keepers (of the non-Web variety) and simple document editing. Is that asking too much?
