Dodgem bumper cars for kids

dodgem.jpg

I don't understand the appeal of bumper cars. Isn't driving with the intent to crash into another car sending the wrong message to children who eventually grow up and want to merge into your lane without signaling or checking their mirrors?

UK-based Maplin Electronics obviously doesn't think so, as a pair of their battery-powered Dodgem cars are currently on sale for £80. Normally priced at £50 apiece, the blue and red foam-bumpered cars are designed for children ages 2 to 6 (ah, the non-impressionable age) and can weave through all the rooms in your house at up to 2 miles per hour for 40 minutes on a single charge.

When those 2-year-olds get their driver's licenses in 2021, please remind me of the benefits of walking.
