Cassette tape tape dispenser

Tape dispensers are one of those things that you probably only buy once in your life. My parents still use the same sand-weighted black one from when I was a kid, and I've always assumed that I'd be using the one I bought ten years ago for at least the next fifty years.
Why this is the case, I have no idea. The average tape dispenser is cheaper than lunch at a diner, so cost is clearly not the issue. It can't be lack of innovation either, as this Tape Tape Dispenser (£12) is unique and pretty clever.
Any ideas?

because our culture isn't totally bent on disposability and planned obsolescence. in some arenas, functionality remains king. should I be throwing out a perfectly good tape dispenser every 5 years to get the newest most fashionable one? ... no thanks.
