iPhone cases roundup

Okay, you scored an iPhone but what are you going to put it in? Hoping to capitilize on the frenzy, companies geared up to provide cases, power charges and other accessories.
Even before the iPhone was available there was a scramble to be first to the market with iPhone cases. First up is the Bikini from Incipio, which is available in 14, count 'em, 14, different colors ranging from "Randy Red" to Argyle. Classy. That's the "Army Ranger" version pictured up top. They're all leather and cost a mere $19.99.

DeCal Girl, which makes a fun assortment of skins for phones and DSLites, also offers glossy, high-resolution skins for the iPhone (though we haven't tried them).

With it's premium grade leather, BoxWave's Designio Leather Case is a handsome entry. It comes in your choice of seven colors: navy blue (pictured), jet black, leaf green, scarlet red, soft pink, tangerine orange, or winter white color, on sale for $24.95.
And in case you didn't get the matching iPhone hat with your phone, there's always Boxwave's Active Case which makes it easy to see that you're holding an iPhone. The Clear Touch model is actually a bundle of anti-glare screen covers made from high-grade thermoplastics which you smooth over the front of your iPhone.

And a company that believes you can protect your technology while having fun, iStyles, features an iPhone sleeve made of a micro-fiber cloth which they claim not only protects the device from scratches, but also polishes and cleans the device as it gets inserted and extracted from the case.

For something completely different, there's ZuluWorks, whose founder Rob Honeycutt admits, "I'm totally obsessed with [the iPhone] and just could not stop myself from designing a new line of cases for it." The Traveller is for the jet setting type, made of a heavy canvas with four simple slash pockets that hold both SIM chips and SD cards. (Lined with a protective micro-suede fabric, of course.) $34.95.

Belkin and Pacific Design have some smart offerings as well. Sporting an armband version for $29.99 and a protective acrylic case that provides full access to ports and iPhone navigation, Belkin offers their standard lifetime warrenty. Pacific Design offers up custom fit designs, in a sporty wristlet. They also recruited Chloe Dao from the TV series Project Runway to design a line for the style conscious. Those won't be available until July 21st, however.

And a company that's always looking after your gadgets, Griffin, offers no less than 4 ways to cover and protect your baby: the all-leather Elan holster, the iClear, the Streamline (sports armband), the Elan snap-in, and the Elan Sleeve, plus every power accessory you'd ever need, such as the Power Jolt (car charger). Only the Elan snap-in ($24.99) is available now, but the other models are promised soon.

Why you would cover up the beautiful design of the iPhone is beyond me, but if you need some bling, Crystal Icing offers a Swarovski Crystal design. The site boasts, "Over 3000 Tiny SS7 Swarovski Crystals Were Individually Bonded to this iPhone." It will put you back almost 1/2 the price of a 4GB iPhone too at $295.
