Planet OtterBox contest

belize-otter-planet.jpg

The company that brings you those rugged cases to protect all your fun technology launched Planet OtterBox this week, a site where you can show off your latest OtterBox adventure from anywhere in the world, like this photo from Belize. You enter by submitting your own photo and story. OtterBox is giving away $100 every month, and $1,000 every year for the top entry.

"This is a great way for us to connect with our customers all over the world,” says Curt Richardson, the CEO of Otter Products. “Over the years we’ve had people send in some incredible stories and photos of their OtterBox and now this creates a way for people to share their experiences with everyone." Richardson, by the way, is a walking advert for his products; among his sports are paintball, (uses the OtterBox parts and accessories 1000, 2000, 3500), sailing (1900 GPS, 1930 BlackBerry case), diving (1000 for use in my BC as a "water wallet so nothing valuable is left on the boat" and the 2500 for his dive computer). He adds, "I take my iPod Video case - everywhere! You never know what is going to happen next." I'm exhausted just listening.

But back to Planet OtterBox -- through the interactive, easy to use, world-wide map you can view in-action OtterBox photos and stories from all over the globe. Choose a balloon pinpoint mark, and stories and photos pop up. They're adding cities everyday; there's no LA yet, just Thousand Oaks (which I guess you could say is part of the city, though locals call it "Deep Valley").

If I had an extreme sport, (like, for instance, skydiving), I could send in all my photos of me using my BlackBerry all the way down, utilizing the water-proof camera case and waterproof, drop-resistant, interactive cases for my BB of course. But as I'm afraid of heights, I don't think that's going to happen.

For contest rules check out this page at Planet OtterBox.

OtterBox cases are available at Amazon.
