Emotibuds emoticon earbud covers

My favorite online boutique, Fred Flare, has just announced finalists of their "Next Big Thing" awards. Somehow, like just about everything offered at Fred Flare, all the products are ultra-cute, and have a sort of retro-modern feel without going all the way into hula dancer lamp kitsch-land. My favorite, I think, are these Emotibud earbud charms by Emotibles. The standard iPod earbuds are a pretty ordinary looking deal, and colored and bedazzled versions tend to have subpar sound, so these Emotibuds are a great option if you want to use the earbuds of your choice, but still be able to personalize them to your liking.

The best thing about Emotibuds? Your emoticon options are not limited to :) and :( . There's everything from "starry-eyed" (top row, far left), to "neurotic" (top row, far right). Just as in IM-world, where I don't understand what half of those emoticons represent (example: :-6 is supposed to mean exhausted. What?), I don't think people will necessarily understand what you're supposed to be emoting, but "cranky" (second from left, bottom row) will hopefully make it clear to your airplane seatmate that you're in no mood for chitchat. Ah, who cares, they just make me laugh and I'd happily use these without feeling excessively cutesy. A set of 3 pairs of emotibuds is available for $12 from Fred Flare. If you want the full range of 16 emotibuds, they're available individually for $4 from Emotibles.

On the other hand, while I adore these scented lollipop earrings, I doubt I could pull off the school girl chic thing, I'd just look regressive and mental. But how cute are they, if you have the confidence to wear them. They're $18.
Vote for your favorite "Next Big Thing" at Fred Flare. Voting starts on June 19th, and the winning designer gets $1000.

Beware though: my girlfriend bought the emotibuds but found them too uncomfortable so they sit in the back of a drawer somewhere in the dark feeling only sadness.
