The hipsters have voted and the latest in the what’s-old-is-new category: fragrances.

Surf over to one of the beauty Meccas, like Sephora, and find the classics that are hot all over again, like the warm oriental expressiveness of Guerlain’s Shalimar or the timeless floral notes of Robert Piquet’s Fracas. Guess my mom (Shalimar) and my friend, Robyn (Fracas), are timeless in their choices.

For the man in your life, classics that are hot include the crisp, refreshing aroma of Calvin Klein’s Eternity and the definitively aquatic air of Armani’s Acqua Di Gio.

More recent classics include the original Jean Paul Gaultier Classique (for women) and Le Male (for men – duh), and L’Eau de Issey by Issey Miyake, available for both sexes.

On the flip side, . . a couple of fragrances that need to be put on the never again list: White Linen, and Polo for Men (the original green bottle).
