New York Electronic Arts Festival is under way

nyeaf.jpg

From May 12 to June 2, the New York Electronic Arts Festival (NYEAF) will be showcasing exhibitions, concerts and workshops. It's great to see a venue which supports the growing community of New York-based electronic artists and organizations. The programming has appeal for veterans in the genre, as well as the interested but uninitiated.

The NYEAF concert series offers a broad range of participants, from the 80s / 90s alt-pop band They Might Be Giants, to electronic musician Luke DuBoise and the violinist Mari Kimura. The festival also offers a Sensors Workshop and a Robotics and Music Workshop on June 6th.

The festival is followed by the "New Interfaces for Music Expression" (NIME) conference, which runs from June 6 - 10. This year's conference will focus on Music & Robots. Along with workshops and papers on the subject, the keynote speaker is the sound artist Trimpin.
