Cliphanger - hang cell phones & iPods anywhere

cliphangers.jpg

This divinely simple clip solves two nagging problems I've been having for some time with my cell phone, which I have on me at all times, except when I'm swimming (and even then it's perched at the edge of the pool). First is the awkwardness of carrying my cell phone in the front pocket of my pants when I go out without a purse (or just in my slippery hands if I happen to be wearing a dress). Second is the need to have my cell phone mounted somewhere on my car when I'm using the speaker phone (having found that I have poor luck keeping Bluetooth earphones from breaking). I don't like bulky clips or complicated car mounts which don't accommodate different sized phones.

A reader sent in a tip about Cliphanger, which is basically an extension of the paperclip concept. You simply attach it to the back of your cell phone (or iPod), and then hang it on your purse, your belt loop, or on your dashboard. They're lightweight, unobtrusive, and versatile. I just ordered a pack of 5 of these for myself and to give out to others. They come in clear, black or smoke, and cost $11.95 for one (or in packages of 3 or 5).

To hang it on your car dashboard (or any flat surface), you just use the auto-clip that comes with the Cliphanger (more images after the jump).

RAZR or KRZR phone users can also buy clear shields with Cliphangers for $19.95,

Of course, Cliphangers can be used for any portable device, not just cell phones. I intend to use mine for my iPod as well as my hand-held GPS.

John:

Surely it is just marking you as an easy target for pickpockets.

They no longer even need to go into your pocket (or bag, it's so versatile) when accidently bumping into you on the street. On top of that it appears as if it could be removed by grabbing the device and pulling it sideways.

Joann Jones:

I would like to sale
cliphangers in my shop. Do you sale at wholesale prices. Please send information.
