Sand & Kleen makes drywall easy

I like home beautification projects. I read Apartment Therapy and Elle Decor, and I even grew a beard so I'd look like Bob Villa. Every once in a while I get a crazy idea to undertake a massive construction project. But the hassle of cleaning up after home construction projects always dissuades me. I like to cook, but I hate to clean.
For those who haven't had the wonder of working with drywall; it's a nasty job to achieve the perfectly smooth walls that are indicative of professional work. The different sections of drywall are joined together with joint compound (mud) that must be sanded to a smooth finish until it begins to blend in with the wall. This sanding is where the headache inherent in drywall comes through - The dust goes everywhere! Clean up has always been a total nightmare on every drywall job I've done. But thanks to the indomitable Kevin Kelly (and Doug Barnard) drywall sanding will vex me no more!
The Sand & Kleen is a special sanding head attached to a bucket full of water. A hose runs from the bucket to an ordinary Shop Vac, and the suction created by the vacuum pulls drywall dust through the sanding head and into the water. It's a suspension filter! The dust is trapped in the water, and clean-up becomes just dumping out a bucket full of sludge occasionally. The manufacturer says that the need for a mask or respirator has been eliminated, but my advice is to go ahead and wear one just in case. With the noise from the Shop Vac and the whistling suction of the water filter I would recommend a pair of earplugs, too. They're only forty-two bucks at Amazon and I highly encourage all home construction bosses to pick one up.
