Verbarius clock: The time in words

verbarius-clock.jpg

This has got to be the most pretentious clock I've ever seen. Not only does the Verbarius electronic clock display the time in words, but it does it in any language that can be retrieved from a PC (English, Spanish, French, German, and Russian are preinstalled) and in several different ways.

How it works is a bit unclear, but apparently the 7.8" x 2.8" x 1.7" clock will show 4:45 as either forty-five minutes past four, fifteen minutes to five, four forty-five, or a quarter to five "every time it's asked." The device is equipped with just a power outlet and USB port and not a microphone, so the variations are likely just programmed to display randomly. You don't literally have to ask the Verbarius what time it is, though that would actually be kind of cool.

Appears to be selling at a preorder price of $158, though the pricing information on the site is a bit unclear.
