Super Mario World: I hear a symphony

If you recall, last year, I posted on the C64 Orchestra, which played songs from classic games for the early personal computer, the Commodore 64. They continue to make progress, with a live trailer on YouTube, concerts, and of course, a MySpace page. So you know that they are legit.

However, they have some friendly competition from Play! Symphony, which performs orchestral arrangements of more modern games including Super Mario World, Halo and Final Fantasy. This year, the Play! Symphony will have concerts in Stockholm, Singapore and Sydney. Don't worry, they also play cities that do not start with S, as they have a concert booked in Forth Worth, Texas in 2008.

We live in the age of compression via the MP3. It's glorious to find artists translating the digital into analog, rather than the other way around, by adding fidelity to music instead of taking it away.
