A moon of one's own
Maybe it's because I've been watching that old mini-series From the Earth to the Moon recently, but the idea of having a relief of the moon mounted on my room wall and watching it go through all its phases sounds pretty cool right about now. Moon In My Room is designed to illuminate itself automatically in a darkened room, in sync with the corresponding waxing and waning phases of the moon. It goes off after 30 minutes of inactivity, so you don't have to worry about it glowing all night while you sleep, and if you're not geek enough to want to keep track of the moon's phases every night, it can also be manually set to whichever phase you prefer.
Moon In My Room runs on AA batteries, so no power oulet is needed. Like any good home device these days, its settings can be adjusted with a remote control.
Available for £29.95 ($53.91) from I Want One Of Those.
