SmartHome's Weemote 3 remote control for kids

Kateweemote.jpg

As any parent knows, kids want the toys that we play with, ie. the TV remote, the shiny Blackberry or your cell phone. SmartHome realized this and created the Weemote 3">Weemote 3, a special remote control just for kids that only lets them watch the channels you decide are appropriate (i.e. Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, etc.)

This new version, which sells for $24.99, lets kids surf as many as 10 channels (compared to 5 channels with the original Weemote). It also automatically switches to the first pre-programmed channel when the power button is pressed, so let your munchkin take control. It's also compatible with TVs with integrated VCRs and digital video recorders like TiVo, and an extensive library of built-in codes supports the newest generation of TVs, cable boxes and mini-dish satellite receivers.

To program, you simply open the kid-proof panel to set the "allowed" channels. I gave it to my neighbors, who have a smart, beautiful 3 year-old, Kate, who was thrilled to have her own version: "MY weeeemote!" Kate is happy as a clam with the ability to change programs on her own and hasn't noticed (yet) that she can't get to HBO or some of the other channels. Okay, now we need a Blackberry for this generation.

Where was this when my Mackenzie was a two year old?
