Fool intruders with the Faux Security Camera

Are you one of those people who are always on the lookout for means to secure your house against burglars? The choices available in this age of hi-tech electronic surveillance are numerous, ranging from basic cameras to complete home solutions. Hammacher Schlemmer offers a different perspective to solving the security problem with their Faux Security Camera. Yes, you read that right. This is a completely fake camera that looks like it is constantly on the lookout for those unwanted bad guys but is actually dead as a dodo. It has all the usual trappings of a surveillance gadget with a constantly blinking LED and a pretty real looking video cable running from it to the wall. The camera comes with a mounting bracket which you can use to mount the camera on a flat surface so you can tilt the camera to any angle that you like.
On the surface, the camera sounds like a good idea. It will be especially suitable for those who do not want the hassle of setting up a real security system and want just a basic level of deterrence. It can make a wonderful gift to folks whose perception of threat is more a psychological feeling than being anything real. However, pricing is where this product loses out. Costing a hefty $60, that kind of money can fetch you a camera that actually works. Also, as the camera sells more, its effectiveness is bound to decrease since more people will become aware of its fake status.
All in all, this can be useful to some of us. However, in case of real security issues, it would not be wise to experiment with this camera, and you would be better off with real security solutions or the right kind of people who can handle it for you.

Ahh I would definitely put one of those in the front of my block. I wouldn't see things being stolen then :)
Great one
