City Guides for your iPod

podcityguides.jpg

There are lots of ad hoc travel guides one can download for the iPod, but if you're enough of a jet-setter that you'd find having multiple city guides handy, then Wcities' one-stop offering of 300 PodCityGuides in over 70 countries might be the thing for you. Using the PodCityGuide application, you can download as many city guides as you want for free, subject to the iPod's maximum capacity of 1,000 notes.

Listings for each city include events, dining, entertainment, hotels, attractions and shopping, with weekly syncs recommended to get the latest event listings and showtimes. The 300 PodCityGuides run from Johannesburg to San Juan, Reykjavik to Shenyang; of course, North America's well-represented too.

The application also works with Wcities' existing Travel Bag, a bookmarking tool to save multiple listings for future reference. You can add your personalised existing Travel Bag to your iPod, so that all your travel notes are updated constantly.

PodCityGuides are compatible with all 3rd, 4th and 5th generation iPods, including the iPod Nano, Mini, Photo and Video. Caveat: there's no Macintosh version available yet (the website says they're working on it), so Mac users like me will have to wait a while before we can play around with this.

RobynT:

These look great! I can't wait to try them out in March, when I'll be visiting Chicago and NY.

Adrian Sie:

http://www.expodition.com/faq.php has a similar service, some guides are free but others are customized for a fee. No application is required so Mac users are welcome.

Litcheegirl:

I'm a mac user and I still use the guides downloading them as zip files. Can't wait for the mac app to be released...
