The double wall Manhattan line from Bodum
I don't know how this release slipped under my radar, but Bodum is selling a new line of double wall insulated drink ware. The Manhattan line of hand-blown glasses uses a pocket of air between an inner and outer glass surface to insulate the hand from the beverage within. The minimization of surface area retards heat transference, and drinks stay colder (or hotter!) longer. An added bonus of the insulated design is that the outside of the glass doesn't change temperature, so it's more comfortable to hold when mingling.
The sleek Manhattan lineup includes martini, champagne, beer flutes, white wine, and shot glasses. Prices range from $10 to $25 per glass, and they're available direct from Bodum.
P.S. I read Dwell, and it's a great magazine

I bought the Bodum tumblers a few months ago and I really love them! Not only are they great to look at, they don't sweat like other glasses, which is great for me, since my husband refuses to use a coaster!
I've used them for coffee too, and they are never too hot to hold.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to justify buying the Manhattan line!

I received a very severe cut when one of the bodum double walled glasses broke while i was washing it. It virtually exploded. They have so far refused to cover my emergency room bills ($1,500). I found out from another source that they lost a large contract because others had been cut by these glasses. They are too fragile for general usage. Even their website says be careful putting ice in glass. That is after teling you how strong the glass is!!
