Inspried by Pink Ladies in London, a taxi service run by women for women, Dubai has instituted its own Pink service.

Apparently, Pink Ladies was formed in response to concerns expressed by a number of women regarding safety, and the risks of traveling in potentially illegal mini-cabs, which I suppose is a problem here too. Even though you get perks like uniformed lady drivers who are trained in self-defense and first aid, and you're relaxing in a luxury vehicle, the cost is the same as a regular taxi. For safey reasons, there is a minimal membership fee (�1) and you need to fill out a short questionaire before using the service for the first time.

On a side note, Pink Ladies (in London) support Breast Cancer Care and 10% of the membership fee is donated to this charity.
