CatGenie cat toilet

Ok. Eh, I just watched a video of this product in action. I was still staring at my screen in disbelief for about a minute afterward. CatGenie is the "World's only Self-flushing, Self-washing Cat Box" - basically a fully plumbed-in toilet for your cat. Just press a single button for automatic "scooping, flushing, washing, sanitizing and drying" of the box and its reusable granules. I'm probably the least pet-savvy on Popgadget, so I don't know if this is really a breakthrough in cat technology or just plain ridiculous. Anyone?
Be warned though, if you have more than one cat, and one of them is a bit of a bully, be careful there's no head-flushing going on behind your back.
The CatGenie will set you back $299 from the CatGenie store.

What would really be genius is a toilet for dogs, but first someone has to come up with a method for persuading them that it's a good idea.

Anything that would relieve a natural-born doglover from those essential cat-related cleaning chores would be worth a couple hundred bucks, easy! I'm just not fully convinced that our Garfield the Obnoxious would consent to cooperate...

Cats are kind of self-washing as well. But what makes this item 'personal tech for women'? Do cats not use the bathroom when owned by men? Or do real men not own cats?

I bought one - have had it for a couple of weeks now - and the cats HATE it. I think it is the granules they hate, but they won't use it at all. I have tried many different ways to try and make the transition easier for them - nothing seems to work. I am returning it for my 90 day-money back guarantee.

I have one and what a life-saver! Our cat would go though one litter box every other day, which was a lot more expensive than this. It took one day for him to accept this. We moved his litter box next to this, let it get full and he chose the cleaner one. And he is a 12 year old cat. Clean litter - YEA!
