Collapsible guitars

I recently had the pleasant experience of bringing my bass guitar across countries by plane. Needless to say, it involved quite a bit of research beforehand and just as much maneuvering with the airlines during travel. If only they made a collapsible bass guitar like the guitars they have at Stewart Guitar Company, my travel would have been a lot easier.
Stewart Guitar Company offers two full size, full scale, but collapsible versions: The Road Runner, and the Stow Away. Both feature 25 & 1/2” scale necks with solid wood bodies. The basic difference between the two, other than color, is that the Road Runner is a traditional styling guitar with a headstock, and the Stow Away is a headless version.
Now here comes the interesting part. Stewart Guitar Company uses the patented Clip-Joint™ neck connection system to attach the guitar neck to the body. The Clip-Joint™ accomplishes the job with three main components: the body connector, the neck plate and a couple of thumbscrews. The neck can then be removed from the body in seconds, and the guitar body and neck stored in a custom traveling bag (included with purchase). Plus, you don’t even need to remove or loosen the strings before removing or re-attaching the neck! Now that’s amazing! Take a look at their video, you’ll be truly impressed.
From various reviews I’ve read, seems like these guitars play and sound perfectly okay as well. But don’t just take my word for it, you can try it out up close and personal through their loaner program. Yes, you can try it out for free before you purchase. If only they made a bass guitar....
Prices for Stewart guitars range from $499 to $699. They also offer various options to make yours look and sound even better than the most basic version.
