A small dose of carrot

Don't ever say we at Popgadget only want to enslave you to your computers and gizmos and don't care about your health. Here's a dose of Beta Carotene for you. My friend John introduced me to this site called Small Carrot. It is such a darling site. It’s all about animation, design and motion graphics for the small screens, namely iPods, PSPs, and cell phones.

Both artists and users can upload/download these creations for free. Everybody is free to submit his/her work, but you must be the rightful owner or have proper permission to do so.

These short movies run the gamut from cute to freaky, surrealistic to stylish. Some may even generate responses of “What the f@*k!” There are also popular ones like Office Buddies, and Hello Kitty “Gifts of Dance and Magic Trance.” Talk about surreal... some of them are part of a whole series, and if you sign up, they’ll contact you when new episodes are out. This way, the users are able to have more of a direct link with the artists. In any case, it seems like a very well organized site with high quality video images that offer a breath of fresh air with interesting relief from your everyday surrealism.

In June NBC announced that it would be making the Olympics competitions available on the Web only to users of Vista, shutting out Macs, Linux, and even Microsoft's own Windows users. They appear to have relented, I'm happy to...
