Teslar watch

Teslar.jpg

Developed several years ago, Teslar technology was designed to emit a signal that shields live cells from ambient electromagnetic fields (EMFs). This protection was proven by its developers to enhance the immune system in humans exposed to it.

Placing a Teslar chip in a wristwatch would provide regular exposure to the immune-enhancing energy and, thus, the Teslar watch was born. The "Teslar Effect" claims to have provided its wearers with the benefits of "deeper, more restful sleep; more calm and less tension; improved concentration; increased levels of energy; an overall improvement in well-being."

Philip Stein has introduced a line of high-end timepieces which combine the Teslar chip with diamond chips, merging science and style perfectly. Having made the list of Oprah’s Favorite Things and the Neiman Marcus website, the Philip Stein watches are to attract (or repel, as the case may be) more than a few electrons!

Learn more about the "Teslar Effect" here.

Black Pearl Micro GSM Mobile Phone by Haier

haier%20gsm%20phone.jpg

My first search for a teeny, tiny GSM phone (last year), came up with a couple of models that were small enough to wear around my neck, but which I later decided were just too gimmicky; their diminutive size was their sole appeal, with functionality being purely an after-thought. My love affair with the one I ultimately ended up buying died when I finally had to admit that I couldn't really make out the icons on the puny screen or be patient enough to scroll through the not so exciting functions that there were no buttons for.

Now, those in the market for a slim phone with more to offer than a sleek physique have options that are sophistciated in both style and function -- for instance, the three from Samsung that Ray recently wrote about: the P300 the SGS-P310, and the SCH-B510.

For a while, I had given up on the idea of replacing my GSM phone with another one in the micro category, having learned that smaller isn't always better. But I'm somewhat taken with the new Black Pearl MP3 OLED Micro Mobile GSM Phone released by Haier, and described as being the size of a lipstick case (though I'm not sure if that's a useful way to describe the size, as lipstick cases come in lots of different sizes). More specifically, it weighs in at 2.24 ounces and its dimensions are 3.5" L x 1 1/4" W x 3/4" D.

The Black Pearl -- named that because of its gun metal-mercury mirrored surface that's "reminiscent of black pearl" -- is being marketed as a luxury phone for women. Features include a built-in MP3 player, FM stereo tuner, Bluetooth, Trans-Flash slot for additional storage capacity up to 1GB, voice recorder, OLED display, standard mini USB connector for charging and data transfer, and navigation through a side-mounted thumb rocker switch.

Good news for me: it's soon to be available as an unlocked GSM phone through resellers, which means I can keep my existing plan and phone number when I switch phones. No word on pricing as yet.

patricia_discochoc_sm.jpgmarie_hollywoodtile_side_sm.jpg

Today's SheFinds newsletter is devoted to stylish laptop bags, including several fun styles I haven't seen before, like the Patricia Laptop Messenger Bag and Marie Laptop Backpack from M. Avery Designs. The nice thing about these bags is that once you select the style, you then have your choice of many different fabrics.

As usual, the personal shoppers at SheFinds have found us the best deals on the web. If you're looking for something with a more serious business-like look, those are covered too.

Recycled aluminum pull tab purses by Escama

chicaRosaChampagne300.jpg
francisca_300_silver.jpg

These purses, made from recycled aluminum pull tabs, remind me of the beaded purses I loved when I was a kid. They seem to have that same inviting, bumpy texture. Four different designs, each made in a variety of different colors, are available from Escama, and range in price from $32 (for the makeup bag) to $160 (for the large shoulder bag).

iAttire limited edition Halloween costumes

Of course iAttire has new costumes for our iPods for Halloween this year, all hand-made. Check out the 2006 limited edition costumes for all iPod models. May be a good alternative for those of us who try and fail to dress up our dogs (mine just doesn't get that it's supposed to be fun).

Okay, but where are the miniature trick-or-treat bags?

Mitsubishi Hybrid

mitsubishi_concept_ct%20%282%29.jpg

Unless you were in Las Vegas last weekend, you haven't seen the new hybrid Mitsubishi is coming out with soon.

Osamu Masuko, the president of Mitsubishi, announced at the company’s annual dealer’s meeting that an all electric vehicle, as well as several hybrid models, will be hitting this market soon. The new cars, which will be sold first in Japan before coming to the US, will feature the latest lithium-ion batter technology. You could get your hands on one as early as 2010.

When a mainstream manufacturer like Mitsubishi introduces electric cars for the masses, you know it's the wave of the future.
