Hitachi's newest bot

Just call it EMIEW (stands for Excellent Mobility and Interactive Existence as Workmate.)

What's new is that it is now equipped with a sensory laser for navigation. The cute new bot will make its debut at the 2006 WAC (World Automotive Congress) in Japan which begins October 23.

Unlike the past models, it can locate its owner by voice recognition .EMIEW keeps its balance by means of internal gyroscopes. It's job list is still very basic, but the navigation laser is a nice touch.

Now they just need to teach it how to vacuum....
