A cellphone for Poseidon

SO902iwp_2.jpg

Last week, I got caught in some pretty horrendous thunderstorms. While getting drenched running for the subway (even with an umbrella), I was wondering exactly how wet the phone stuffed in my pants pocket could get before it died. So, although I never intend to go swimming with my cellphone, I am intrigued by the waterproof SO902iWP+ from Sony Ericsson. It even receives calls underwater and comes with an mp3 player and 1.3 megapixel camera.

Mark:

I love this idea, i know that this phone is waterproof but i would love someone to take a phone call under water how would they be able to listen to it. Think about it.

ray:

Well, they do have waterproof headphones/earphones. Granted, even if you can hear the calls, responding might be difficult unless you're Aquaman. I would guess that people who spend a like of time around water would the target market for this phone (boaters, lifegurads, aquarium cleaners, etc.)

JJ:

Man! This cell phone would be IDEAL for me... I'm only 17 years old and i've managed to drown 3 cells. one a thunder storm, 2, the washing machine and 3 was in the only puddle in my friends 100 acre land.. I mean... C'mon! Isn't that screaming for the time to get a waterproof cellphone?! LMAO!

G:

When and where can i buy this phone? It's about time they came up with this idea.

ray:

I don't believe that it is out in Asia, yet. As with a lot of phones, it may not reach the US at all.

Joel:

OK, everyone is stuck on using the phone underwater. Think about using the phone in the rain or not replacing it if you drop it in water or if the kid sticks it in the toilet. Great Idea, not lets make it available in the states.
