A happy bunch of plush TV animals caused quite a stir on their debut in Nanjing, China, last week. LCD television makers Hannspree unleashed the gang, consisting of a pig, cow, dog, giraffe, sheep, monkey, zebra, lion and a crab, on shoppers who had no other choice than to go wild for them. The fairly small 10-inch screen (4:3 aspect ratio) is encased in the animals' body in a much more humorous manner than any teletubby I've seen, and the numerous inputs make it simple to connect to a DVD/VCR player. The lining is removable, which allows for easy cleaning, and the large buttons on the front panel, along with the remote control, make it a cinch for kids to hop to their favourite show. The demand for these televisions has become so great that Amazon is having to sell them on a pre-order, first come, first served basis. Available also from Hannspree directly for $249.99.
